Fan Yat Long

A graduate of SKH Tang Shiu Kin Secondary School, currently a first-year student in the Advanced Diploma in Music Production at the Hong Kong Design Institute. Fan has been learning guzheng under Ms. Lau Ka-po since 2015. He has achieved Grade 9 in Guzheng from the Chinese National Orchestra Society in 2025; Grade 5 in Music Theory from ABRSM in 2024; Grade 5 in Electric Guitar from Rockschool in 2024; and Grade 6 in Piano from ABRSM in 2023. He is currently studying Grade 8 Piano and Music Theory under Ms. Ng Chui-kwan, zhongruan under Ms. Hong Suet-ying, and composition under Mr. Tam Yat-sing. He is currently a member of the New Voice Guzheng Ensemble (Youth Division).

In 2025, he participated in the "Relishing Creativeness in the Hong Kong Palace Museum" Music Composition Competition jointly organized by the Arts Education Section of the Curriculum Development Branch of the Education Bureau and the Hong Kong Palace Museum, and received three awards, including "Best Chinese Instrumental Composition Award (Solo)", "Best Integration of Concept and Artefact Award" and "Outstanding Musical Piece (Solo) Gold Award." Also in 2025, he won the Outstanding Gold Award in the Traditional Plucked Strings (Guzheng Solo) at the 12th Hong Kong International Music Festival; and in 2025, he won the third place in the Western Music (Piano) Open Category at the Tuen Mun District Chinese and Western Instrumental Music Competition. In addition, he won the championship in the Plucked Strings Performance category of the 13th “New Voice Cup” Hong Kong Chinese Music Solo Competition in 2024, and first runner-up in the intermediate Guzheng solo category at the Hong Kong Schools Music Festival in 2021.
